R.G. Hardie & Co. 3D Drone Extenders are designed to alter the effective length of standard-pitch drone reeds so they can play comfortably in the key of B-flat (466 Hz). Each set includes a bass extender and two tenor extenders. The drone reed slots into the extender, which is then inserted into the drone reed seat.
 
These extenders are produced using advanced 3D printing technology. A digital CAD or 3D model is created and sent to a 3D printer that uses a powder bed fusion process. A high-powered laser selectively fuses fine powdered material layer by layer to form the finished component. The resulting material is durable, highly accurate, and water-resistant, making it ideal for the demands of bagpipe performance.
